County commissioners let a bid Monday to Central States Waterproofing Company of Fort Scott to renovate all outside stonework on the county courthouse. They also accepted the low bid of Johnny Liles of Hillsboro to caulk and paint the woodwork around the 165 window frames in the courthouse.

Brownie Troop 64 met Nov. 1 at the Legion hall. New officers are Carol Colburn, president, LeFran McGranor, treasurer, and Julie Zerger, reporter.

Three Marion County girls are attending college at Marymount College in Salina this year. They are Sandra Kay Vinduska, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Vinduska, Lost Springs, Kathleen Ann Westerhaus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin G. Westerhaus of Marion, and Carolyn M. Vinduska, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Vinduska, rural Marion.

A group of neighbors gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Vogel, Susan, Stanley, and Randy Tuesday evening for a Halloween party. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kjellin, Mary Beth, Karen, Patty Jo, and Douglas, Fred and Arnold Boettcher, and John Vogel.

Mrs. Homer Hett presented her piano pupils in a recital Saturday afternoon. The pupils were Theresa and Cathy Smolik, Carol Waner, Janet Stika, Wanda Hett, and Betsy Bowers. Guests were the mothers and grandmothers of the children.

The city commission Monday evening named four Marion citizens to serve as the local steering committee for the Marion County Historical Museum. The members are Frank Hollar, chairman, and Mrs. R.R. Melton, Mrs. John Dixon, Mrs. John Wheeler, and Leslie Powell.
