The Sisters Adorers of the Most Precious Blood, owners and operators of St. Luke Hospital in Marion, have announced this week, on the recommendation of their financial adviser, the necessity of leaving the operation and maintenance of the operation here. An acute shortage of Sisters in the religious community was given as the primary reason for leaving.

Jim Kline, former sheriff of Marion County and well-known locally, has been appointed to an important position in Texas where he will be director of a police training academy.

Earl Winter, Scoutmaster of Troop 102, was pleasantly surprised Saturday at noon when Scouts from his troop gathered at his home to present him with a colorful carved totem pole in honor of his birthday. The totem pole, carved and painted by Mrs. Eugene Enos, depicts Earl's career in Scouting.

Marcus Carlson was honored on his eighth birthday by a surprise party at his home after school Nov. 16. The 3rd and 4th grade students of Lincolnville rode the bus to the Joyce Carlson home. Those attending were Larry and Barry Montgomery, Terry Svoboda, Roger Colgin, Darwin Anderson, Mary Ann Evans, Steve Klein, Mike Freeman, Randall Kroupa, Terry Chizek, Mike Sacone, Mike Beneke, Jani Cott, Melinda Navrat, Marilyn Hett, Tammy Klein, Janelle Poppe, and Randy Stuchlik. Also present were Mrs. Marjorie Hett and Mr. and Mrs. Joyce Carlson, Duane, Judy, and Marcus.

The Friendly Circle Club met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Boyd Linnens. The afternoon was spent packing Christmas boxes for servicemen overseas.
