Jonah Spohn, Tampa, won the first prize, an electronic calculator, in the Marion County Record holiday subscription contest. Mrs. Roy Vogel, Marion, was the second place winner of a new portable typewriter.
Rae Jean Woerz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold R. Woerz of Marion, was one of the attendants to the "personality queen" at the annual Christmas Ball of Brown-Mackie School of Business held Thursday evening at Salina Country Club.

Mr. and Mrs. Byron McCarty of Florence announce the engagement of their daughter, Geri Arleen, to Jack Huntley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Huntley of Florence. No wedding date has been set.
Sheriff and Mrs. June Jost hosted an office dinner party at Kingfisher's Inn Dec. 18. After the meal, they went to the Jost home for the evening. Others present were Undersheriff and Mrs. Delmer Palmer, Trooper John Stultz, Trooper and Mrs. Frank Boyle, Game Protector and Mrs. Charles Schmidtberger, Sterling Frame, Mrs. Ed Rittel, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Hatterman, and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Hanes.
Tim Holub, Mike Jirak, Ralph Noone, Marion Bina, Steve Vinduska, Jeff Commerford and Jim Havlik are members of the CYO basketball team being coached by Raymond Bina and Ronnie Hajek. The team defeated the team from Marion last Wednesday evening and play two games in Pilsen this Wednesday.
Erna Mae Yeagley, mother of three and grandmother of six, spent this holiday season with her family on her farm near Marion. Mrs. Yeagley left two years ago to begin training in Washington, D.C., for a short term missionary assignment at Melmark Home for retarded children in Berwyn, Pa. She was placed in her assignment by the Christian Service Corps, an interdenominational, evangelical program of domestic and overseas volunteer service patterned after the U.S. Peace Corps.
