The Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company has applied to the Kansas Corporation Commission for authority to close and discontinue the station and agent at Lincolnville.
The banks of Marion County will honor five farmers Jan. 27 at the 23rd annual meeting of the Marion County Soil Conservation District. Awards will be presented to Lewis Riggs, Dean Rhodes, Emil Heyland, Allen Pankratz, and Jake Redger. The Goodyear award also will be presented to Allen Pankratz.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Swain have just returned from Washington, D.C., where he has accepted a position as director of research to set up a new department for bricklayers, masons, and plasterers of the International Union of America.
Mrs. Bill Burkholder invited a number of friends in Saturday afternoon to help her son, Jeff, celebrate his third birthday. Birthday cake, ice cream, and punch were served to Jamie and Billy Shirley, Kristine, Kerry, and Michael Kelsey, Kimmy Stayton, Rodney, Troy, and Kevin Schmidt, and Leslie and Tracy Burkholder. The children's mothers also were present.
Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Pierce attended the Mid-Winter Fun Fest at Century II in Wichita Friday and Saturday. This event was to help open the new Century II. Nearly 200 squares or 16,000 square dancers participated with over 1,000 spectators.
Sp/4 Raymond D. Martinez, son of Juan Martinez of Marion, left January 10 for service in Vietnam. He is a member of the 69th Infantry Brigade which was called to active duty last year at Fort Carson, Colorado.
