A bronze plaque in memory and appreciation for services rendered as members of the medical staff of St. Luke Hospital was presented to the hospital Jan. 22 by Dr. and Mrs. R.R. Melton. Those whose names appear on the plaque are R.C. Smith, M.D., G.J. Goodsheller, M.D., and C.R. Magee, M.D. All are deceased physicians who served the hospital and community for many years.
The "Lumber Jacks" have been captured — those misguided youth who cut down some valuable Austrian pine trees at Marion Lake shortly before Christmas. Careful police work was responsible for the tracking down of the tree thieves, who used the well-shaped trees from Corps of Engineers' property as Christmas decorations in a nearby college dormitory.
Elaine Nuss celebrated her 10th birthday Friday night with a slumber party at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Nuss. Guests included Ann and Jan Bryant, Sherry Kelly, Greta Helmer, Debbie Hett, Lois Beneke and Jan Nuss.
Kansas State University Army ROTC cadet Gregory L. Bowers of Marion has been awarded the Academic Excellence Ribbon and third Bronze torch. Cadet Bowers is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Bowers. He is a junior majoring in agricultural engineering.
Mr. and Mrs. Pete Weigel, Wichita, announce the engagement of their daughter, Teresa, to Dennis Klenda, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Klenda of Lincolnville. A late fall wedding is planned by the couple.
Mr. and Mrs. Bud McLinden attended the American National Cattlemen's Association convention and the National Western Stock Show and rodeo in Denver last week.

Harold D. Triggs, 37, career postal employed from Florence, has been appointed as postmaster at Lincolnville. Triggs has been a postal employee since January 1966. Mr. and Mrs. Triggs have three children, Sherry 13, Kerry 12, and Tom 8.
