Marion merchants will be offered an opportunity to take part in the nationwide Bank Americard plan at a meeting to be held here on Feb. 19. The Bank Americard system is a means by which the public is given almost universal credit over much of the United States. All businessmen are invite to attend.
Ol' Man Flu has been playing havoc with the younger generation in Marion and surrounding community, and doing a pretty good job of keeping the older generation in an upset condition, too. St. Luke Hospital has been running at near capacity with patients.
Gary Melcher, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Melcher, Marion, has signed a scholarship with Kansas State University for a full four year course of study in consideration of his ability as a football player.
Miss Betty Jean Tipton, daughter of Mrs. Wayne Tipton, exchanged wedding vows with Roger Richmond, son of Mrs. Glen Richmond, on January 10th at Valley United Methodist Church.
Tenderfoot pins were received by the following ten boys at the annual scout Court of Honor February 3 at the Marion Christian Church: John Bauman, Dart Henry, Brad Turk, Scott McGranor, Gary Williams, Steve Williams, Mike Classen, Mike Markham, Ronnie Ehrlich, and Terry Smith. First Class badges went to Paul Swan, Doug Marler, Donnie Smith, Mike Jackson and Roger Schmidtberger. Henry Bingaman received the Star Scout award and the Life Scout award was presented to Ricky Schwendiman.
The German Television Network called the Marion County Record Wednesday to report that the film they shot here last year will be shown soon in Germany. German audiences will view the film in March.
Mrs. Willard (Earline) Hague, secretary to the Marion Superintendent of Schools, suffered a painful fall Monday evening in front of Marion High School. She had stayed to work a little late, and when she started for home, slipped and fell on the sidewalk. She suffered a broken ankle and was taken to St. Luke Hospital for treatment.
