Marion businessmen enjoyed an evening of visiting last week when they were guests of the Farmers and Drovers National Bank and the Marion National Bank at an informational meeting about the BanAmericard program.
Marion Kiwanis Club will sponsor a benefit basketball game on Thursday at the MHS gymnasium. The Kiwanians will play a team comprised of school teachers and members of the Board of Education. Of added interest will be the fact that the game will be played aboard Ralph Godfrey's donkeys.
Mary Beth Kjellin, a senior at Marion High School and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kjellin of Marion, was crowned "Queen of Courts" Friday night at the half time ceremony between the Marion-Centre homecoming basketball game. Her attendants were Roxanne Hague, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hague, and Tamara Case, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rosse Case. Mary Beth was crowned by David McGinness, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed McGinness of the Aulne community.
Vince Tharp, Stanley Hett and Roger Jackson have been named delegates to Boys State on the campus at the University of Kansas from June 1 through 7. Alternates are Wayne Conyers, Dean Ensey, and Terry Plenert.
A shower at the John D. Hett home Thursday afternoon honored little Douglas Hett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ora Hett. Hostesses were Mrs. John Hett and Mrs. Fred Mehlinger. The guest list included ladies of the Emmanuel Baptist church.
Births announced in this week's issue included a son, Eric Eugene, born Feb. 22 to Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Williams of Fort Collins, Colo.; a daughter, Tressie Ann, born Feb. 24 to Mr. and Mrs. Richard O Bell of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and a daughter Michelle Paige Foth born Feb. 25 to Mr. and Mrs. Howard Foth of Marion.
Airman Garry L. Klose of Sheppard Air Force Base, Wichita Falls, Texas, spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klose and Robert. Garry was guest of honor Friday evening at a birthday dinner at his parents' home.
