Marion County Co-Op at Durham this week purchased the service station and tank wagon business of the Lincolnville Co-Op.
William "Bill" Novak, farmer, stockman and businessman from the rural area of north Marion County, near Lost Springs, was elected Monday night by Republican precinct committeemen and committeewomen to fill the vacancy in the Kansas House of Representatives caused by the untimely death of Lawrence Slocombe.
Marion High School students dominated the CVL speech contest held Monday at Peabody. First place individual medals went to Randy Conyers, Jeanna Fulton, John Higgins, and Willabeth Meier. The one-act play, a mini version of "I Remember Mama," also took first. The cast was made up of Jeanna Fulton, Dennis Schafers, Karen Pankratz, Chris Costello, Darla Shipman, Arlene Gaffney, Andy Ferrell, Jeff Longhofer, and Barry Seifert.
Members of the Methodist Men organization enjoyed an informative session Wednesday evening when Deanna Klenda presented a program on her work as a probation officer of the Sedgwick County Juvenile Court.
"Bells Are Ringing" is the musical comedy to be presented March 17 and 18 at Centre High School. Main parts will be played by Jacintha Konecny, Keith Collett, Susie Klenda, Kent Brown, Kevin Bailey, and Garth Strand.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Meisinger of rural Marion have been named the "Marion County Farm Family of 1972." They were so selected by the Farmers Home Administration.
