Mrs. Jerry (Verona) Mullikin will retire this spring after a career as a foreign language teacher. She has been teaching English and foreign language at Centre High School since 1958. Verona Mullikin first taught at Peabody, then at Buhler, and finally at Centre.

Tamara Case, bride-elect of J.L. Stone, was honored with a miscellaneous shower March 27 at the home of Mrs. Roger Hannaford. Co-hostesses were Mrs. Gerry Harris, Mrs. Arthur Lewerenz, and Mrs. Matthew Classen.

A clever homemade camper was parked on Marion's main stem last week. Bearing Canadian plates, the pickup carried a rustic cabin complete with back porch and wrought iron railing.

Coach Rex Wilson's squad of thinclads took second in the Kansas Indoor Track Meet held Friday and Saturday at Manhattan. Members of the track team winning honors were Jim Magathan, Joey Ragole, Louis Wegerer, Bill Finke, and Dan Jewett.

Farm Bureau scholars recently were hosted to a banquet in Manhattan. Pictured with Ray Frisbie, president of the Farm Bureau, are Gloria Freeland, daughter of Edgar Freeland of Burns, and Russell Bowers, son of Mr. and Mrs. David Bowers of Marion. Both are students at K-State who currently are receiving the Farm Bureau Insurance scholarship.

Mrs. Lawrence (Betty) Hart, daughter of Ben Bartel and sister of Mrs. Harold Wiens, was featured in a recent edition of the Clinton (Oklahoma) Daily News for her exceptional baking skill.

Byron McCarty, Florence, was elected president of the Mid-Kansas Horseshoe Pitcher's Association at the annual meeting held March 25 in Marion.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Klenda of Marion attended the prayer breakfast as a part of the National Week of Concern at McConnell AFB chapel in Wichita Monday. The service was for prisoners of war, those missing in action, and their families. This week was set aside by President Nixon. Mr. and Mrs. Klenda's son Dean, an Air Force pilot, has been missing in action in Southeast Asia for nearly seven years.
