Steve Greenemeyer has been appointed by the Marion City Commission to operate the municipal swim pool this summer. The pool will open on May 30.

Valerie Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smith, celebrated her sixth birthday Saturday afternoon with a party. Guests were Annette Kline, Lisa Hess, Sheila Meisinger, Nancy Kline, Tammy Harris, Tracy Burkholder, Tony Winter, James Schlehuber, Billy Shirley, Kerry Magathan, Marie and Melanie Druse and Valerie's sisters, Brenda and Cerece.

Vickie Boese, bride-elect of Gary Hajek, was guest of honor at a miscellaneous bridal shower April 7th in the fellowship hall of Eastmoor United Methodist church. Hostesses were Mrs. Tom Dvorak of Newton and Mrs. Jerome Hajek and Shirley Helmer of Marion.

Four students from Flint Hills Area Vocational Technical School participated in the state Plymouth Trouble Shooting Contest held Thursday at the State Far grounds in Hutchinson, Jim Herzet and David Waner, both of Marion, were members of the post high school team.

John Sandwell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sandwell, has joined the staff at KAKE-TV as a salesman. A graduate of Fort Hays State College, Sandwell formerly served an internship with KAKE in Wichita.

Doug Regier and Louis Wegerer were named "State Farmers" at the South Central District FFA awards banquet in McPherson Saturday;. Their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Regier and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wegerer, were present for the event.

Meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Razor Sunday evening to make plans for the 45th anniversary reunion of MHS Class of 1927 were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Collett, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Conyers, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pracht of Cedar Point and Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Haislip of Junction City.
