The memorial fountain to be constructed in Marion's Central Park will be started soon. The bid for the pool will be let within the next few days and arrangements have been made for the fountain apparatus. A $100 contribution makes it possible to have a name inscribed on the memorial plaque to be erected near the fountain.

A new office building for the Marion County Park and Lake superintendent will be constructed by Max Carr, Marion contractor. The Board of County Commissioners authorized construction of the 24'x40' building Monday afternoon.

Mrs. Lillian Pierce, Kansas Mother of the Year for 1969, was special guest of honor at a tea Sunday afternoon held at Eastmoor United Methodist Church. The reception and tea was sponsored by the Eastmoor United Methodist Women.

The dark clouds that rolled in Wednesday afternoon brought a downpour and hail to the Youngtown community. The hail was centered along K-150 with the Al Waners, Thad Meierhoffs, John Stoewe, and Roger Giesbrechts having the most damage to crops and buildings.

Sp4 Wayne Kreutziger, who was wounded April 3 in Vietnam, has been returned to Fort Riley for treatment. He was taken from Vietnam to Japan, then flown to Kansas.

Brownie Troop 56 and their leaders visited the Marion County Record office on Friday. Those who enjoyed the visit were Laurie Mae Ratzloff, Jamie Ratzloff, Patty and Sherry Bishop, Barbara Costello, Susan Higgins, Annette Nienstedt, Cathy Bishop, Franceen Bezdek, Lori Harris, Sherry Classen, Margaret Cox, Susan McCarty, Twyla Ro Cowan, Jane L. Shea, Leora Bingaman, Debbie Bezdek, Vivian Rogers, Georgia Kline, Cindy Ann Bernhardt, and Donna Rose Sherbert.
