Congressman Garner E. Shriver will be the main speaker at the dedication of the Marion Dam and Reservoir here on Saturday, June 14, according to S.W. Gound, chairman of the dedication committee.

Miss Myrna Bowers, a Chase County High School senior and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Bowers, Cedar Point, has been selected as a contestant in the Miss Kansas Beauty Pageant to be held May 2, 3, and 4 in Kansas City, Mo.

Coach Bones Nay of Butler County Community Junior College has announced that Jim Darrow, Marion blocking back and defensive end, will play on the Juco football squad there. Jim was a member of Coach LeRoy Dreier's undefeated state championship football team in Marion this past year.

Mr. and Mrs. Rudy Konarik, Route 4, Marion, announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Theresa, to John R. Griffith of Lawrence, son of Mr. and Mrs. N.A. Griffith of Florence. The wedding will be August 16 at St. John Nepomucene Church, Pilsen.

Jack Loomis of Marion Junior High was the standout of the athletes at Chapman on April 22 when he won three gold medals and 18 points for his school. Jack now holds four individual track records, more than any single boy has ever held during the history of the Chapman meet. Marion Junior High now holds more individual records, six, than any other school participating in the track meet.

"Play Day" for Brownies and Junior Girl Scouts was held Saturday at Cottonwood Falls. Local parents assisting and furnishing cars included Mrs. Eugene Enos, Mrs. Charles Bishop, Mrs. William Sherbert, Mrs. Morris L. Ehrlich, Mrs. Andy Krause, Mrs. Edward Costello, Ronald Break, Mrs. Tommy Thompson and Mrs. Jim Edmisson.
