Gus Grebe, KFH radio sports director, will be the featured speaker at the annual Marion Kiwanis-sponsored "all sports" banquet to be held Thursday, May 8 at St. Mark Activity Center. Mr. Grebe is considered the "number one sportscaster in Kansas."

Valley United Methodist Church was filled to capacity for the morning worship service Sunday in celebration of the church's centennial anniversary and again in the afternoon for a historical program and tea.

Susan Yeagley, daughter of Mrs. J.E. Yeagley, Marion, was one of three finalists in the contest for Navy ROTC Queen at the University of Kansas. Margaret McCoy, Hiawatha, was named queen Friday night and Susan was named first attendant.

Nathan Ray Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Smith, celebrated his sixth birthday May 3rd with a party and cake. Games were played at the Smith home, then the children went to the park to play. Those present were Greg Boyle, Brad Seifert, Kevin Jirak, David O'Hair, Paul Loney, Terry Smith, Angie Hess, Sarah Seibel, Carla Annis and Gina Helmer, all classmates of Nathan, and His sisters, Valerie and Brenda. A family party was held in the evening at the Smith home.

Lance Corporal and Mrs. John Summerville of the Marine Corps Air Station at El Toro, California, arrived Sunday for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rex Berry.

Twenty local Boy Scouts and their leaders attended a camporee Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Harvey County Park and Lake. Boys attending were Ricky Schwendiman, Jay Schwendiman, Roger Schmidtberger, John Higgins, Mike Classen, Tim Zerger, Dart Henry Donnie Smith, Mike Jackson, Doug Krause, Jim Koslowsky, Gary Williams, Steve Williams, Daryl Enos, Doug Marler, Bob Hett, Henry Bingaman, Dennis Schafers, Ronnie Ehrlich, and Terry Smith. Adult supervisors were Reuben Zerger, Leroy Bingaman, Earl Winter, Andy Krause and Kenneth Schwendiman.
