Friday night was a perfect homecoming event for students at Marion High School, the Warriors won their game handily over Remington, the weather was favorable, a fine dance followed the victory, and three lovely girls reigned over the second half of the ball game. Nancy Olsen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Olsen, was crowned queen. Her attendants were Jan Herrick, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Herrick, and Beverly Hoch, daughter of Mrs. Wharton Hoch. Last year's homecoming queen, Darlene Pecinovsky, was on hand to crown Queen Nancy.

Gerry Harris sponsored two winners in zone competition of the Ford Motor Company "Punt, Pass, and Kick" contest at Salina on Saturday. The two winners from Marion are Doug Heerey, eight-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Heerey, who won in his category and David Rittgers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Rittgers, who won in the nine-year-old group. Both boys will compete in the district contest this Saturday in Kansas City.

Anita M. Rudolph, Lincolnville, received a direct commission in the Army Nurse Corps last week. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Rudolph. She was enrolled in the U.S. Army Student Nurse Program at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, and received financial assistance while in training to become a registered nurse.

The character Alfred P. Doolittle stole the show in the original stage production of My Fair Lady on Broadway, and it just may happen again in Marion Friday and Saturday when George Coe is Doolittle in the popular Lerner and Loewe play at Marion Municipal Auditorium. Other main parts are played by Bev Hoch as Eliza, Bryce Ollenberger as Freddy Eynsford-Hill, Henry Higgins by Doug Westerhaus, and Colonel Pickering by Mike Steinel.

Reinhardt Steinle of Marion brought in the week's entry in the produce derby. He didn't know quite what to think of the carrot he took from his garden. It looks more like a deformed lobster than one of Bugs Bunny's favorite meals.
