Marion's newest eating place, the Burger-Shake, opened this past weekend to capacity crowds. Featuring sandwiches, soup, and soft drinks, the establishment is open every day of the week from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Owen Meier, who operates a dairy farm northwest of Durham, had a Holstein cow from his milking herd bring twin calves a few days ago. Both were little bulls but this is about where the similarity of the twins ceased. One little fellow was an Angus, and black, the other, a Charolais, and white.

Double ring wedding vows were repeated by Miss Linda Marlene Oller and Albert Gene Holub October 18 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Arthur Tonne performed the ceremony in St. John Nepomucene Church, Pilsen.

Boy Scouts of Troop 102 and their fathers enjoyed a fishing trip to the Quivera Scout Ranch Saturday, October 18. Those participating were Reuben Zerger and Tim, Bob Robinson and Bob, Elmer Ottensmeier and Mark, John Darting and Scott McGranor, Earl Winter and Jim Hoch, Dennis Schafers, Ronnie Ehrlich, and Donnie Smith.

Conrad Steinel, Marion "ham" radio operator had an interesting experience Tuesday night when he aided a snowbound deer hunter from California, who was stuck on a back road deep in the western slope of the Colorado Rockies. The hunter had a ham rig in his vehicle and sent out a distress call. Steinel and other hams came to his aid. They advised the stuck hunter to remain where he was and they would send help to him by noon Wednesday. They felt since he had a sleeping bag and a campfire that he was in much better shape than some other stranded motorists, who were in more danger.

K.C. Widler, Burns, was elected president of the Marion County Farm Bureau at a board of directors meeting held Monday in Hillsboro. Other officers elected for the coming year included Alex Hanschu Jr., vice president, Ramona; Soren Medley, secretary-treasurer, Tampa; Don Fruechting, T.A. Friesen, and Robert Unruh, board members. Vernolis Siebert is the new county chairman.
