Marijuana, lots of it, was harvested after midnight Sunday. Sheriff June Jost, County Attorney Gaylord Maples and eight other law enforcement officers picked up the packages of weed at a home, three miles south of Lehigh. Six men brought to the Sheriff's office were charged with possession of marijuana and placed in county jail pending court appearance Monday morning.

At 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, Robert F. Vinduska escorted three of his daughters down the aisle of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Pilsen. Given in marriage were: Laurie to Ron Collins; Kay to John David Tharp; and Carole to Clarence Sponsel. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. Arthur J. Tonne officiated at the triple double ring ceremony.

Shelly Wakeman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Wakeman, celebrated her seventh birthday after school October 26. Guests included Tammy Harris, Melanie Conyers, Jeff Conyers, Wendy and Bret Baumgardner, Cindy Woerz, Rochelle Mueller, Staci and Niki Cortner, Traci Burkholder, David Hanson, Greg Brandli and Eric and Julie Wakeman.

Pauline Ferrell. Home Economics teacher at Marion High School, was honored with a birthday party given by her fifth hour Family Living class on Tuesday. She was presented a dozen red roses. Refreshments were served to the honoree, her 20 students, and Richard Britain who took pictures for the MHS yearbook.

Charlie's Burger Shake will now close on Sundays and the Dine-Inn has announced it will be open on Sundays and closed Thursday. The announcement was made jointly by Mr. and Mrs. Charles Frans of the Burger Shake and Mr. and Mrs. Stan May of the Dine-Inn. Both cafes will be open six days each week.

Mr. and Mrs. Rex Siebert had a phone call from N.S. "Singh" Growl of Ludhlanz, Punjab, India, a few days ago. He was back in the United States and would like to visit them on his way across the country. There had been some changes made, as 14 years does make a big difference. "Dad" Rex still wears the familiar western style straw hat, but has added glasses. And his International Farm Youth Exchange friend from India has added a few pounds. But the old friendship prevailed, and after initial moments of greetings, everything was back to normal.
