President Richard Nixon swept to a landslide victory in Marion County in Tuesday's election, as well as in the nation.

One of Marion's long time business houses will close after an auction sale this Saturday when the stock and fixtures of Buckley Grocery is offered to the highest bidder. The store was started over 40 years ago by E.J. Buckley, who at that time was Marion postmaster. He operated if for many years, with the loyal help of his two sons-in-law and their wives — Mr. and Mrs. Bryan Bell and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hiebert.

Three members of Centre Lodge were present Oct. 31 at the annual Past Master's banquet to receive 50-year service pins. Present were George E. Boothe, Francis F. Thies, and Alex H. Case. Twenty-five year emblems went to Lynn Christensen, Alfred Leonard Kirchner, Judge Henry Loveless, Cecil Post, Arthur Schmersey and Homer Stiller.

Kanz-Aton Junior Club sponsored a "spook house" for kids of the community Halloween which made a big hit with the younger generation. The club women fixed up an entire house, room by room, with all sorts of weird displays and multicolored scenes.

James William Miesse Post 22 of the American Legion will celebrate the traditional Armistice Day this Saturday, Nov. 11, by conducting mortgage burning ceremonies in the post home. The new modern post home with cut stone front was constructed in 1951 and was recently "paid off" with the mortgage payments completed.

Dean C. Batt, Marion attorney, has been awarded a certificate of completion for meeting the requirements of a Kansas Bar Association-sponsored 20-week televised course on estate planning.

Clay Brown plays the lead role of "Danny" in the all-school play to be presented at Centre High School Friday evening. Other main parts will be played by David Nelson and Rosie Bina.

The regular family night games have been canceled by the American Legion post of Marion due to the recent ruling of the Supreme Court on Bingo.
