Little Mister New Year arrived at 1:17 a.m. Jan. 11 at St. Luke Hospital. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Soyez of Cedar Point, he weighed 9 pounds 15 ounces and has been named Larry Joe.

Mr. and Mrs. Lauren Enns of Hillsboro announce the engagement of their daughter, Teresa, to Jim Bernhardt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bernhardt of Tampa.

Wayne and Linda Ewert of Denver arrived Friday morning to spend the weekend at the Harold Ewert home. The Ewerts are in the process of moving to Quito, Ecuador, South America, where he is being transferred for two years by the Petty Geophysics Company.

A poem written by Maurita Deines, a sophomore at Butler County Community Junior College, El Dorado, has been selected for publication in the annual Anthology of College Poetry. Maurita is the daughter of Mrs. Rudy Deines of Marion.

Brownie Scout Troop 86 met Jan. 5 and elected the following officers: Debbi Rittgers, president; Carla Jost, secretary; Greta Helmer, treasurer; Lisa Wilson, clean up helper; and Kimberly Warnica, nurse.

County officials sworn in Tuesday by County Clerk B.C. Powell included Probate Judge Henry Loveless, Sheriff June Jost, Register of Deeds Alma Jean Wiebe, County Treasurer Kathryn Schimpf, County Attorney Gaylord Maples, Clerk of the District Court Geraldine Seibel, and County Commissioners Herb Hiebert and Ronald Gaines.

Bryce Ollenberger, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ollenberger of Marion, will play the part of Olympia Host in the cast of "Rock Musical" at the University of Kansas.
