For the third straight year, St. Luke Hospital at Marion has been declared the Kansas state winner of the Lutheran Hospitals and Homes Society membership campaign, according to Charles Hall, hospital administrator. This year nine nursing scholarships have been provided by the society with funds from the annual membership dues, which are used expressly for that purpose.

Pam Griffith was chosen "Queen of Courts Friday night and reigned over the Marion Warrior homecoming basketball victory. Her attendants were Ginger Helmer and Sandra Anderson.

Jim Dreier, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Dreier, celebrated his ninth birthday Friday by asking some of his friends to a party after school. Boys who enjoyed supper with Jim were Doug Webb, Gary Ehrlich, Bruce Williams, Billy Turk, Randy Richmond and Brad Esslinger. They all attended the basketball game that evening.

Births announced in this issue include a son, Andrew David, born to Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hett of Lawrence; a daughter, Julie Marie, born to Mr. and Mrs. Fred Efird of Marion; a son, Kevin Wayne, born to Mr. and Mrs. James R. Brewer of Peabody; and a son, Carl M. Elling III, born to Mr. and Mrs. Carl Elling Jr. of Wichita.

Lisa Wilson recently celebrated her birthday. Lisa was eight Thursday, but had to postpone her party due to the snow storm. Guests were Debbi Henry, Jan Nuss, Becky Houdyshell, Leslie Burkholder, Gena Helmer, Tammy Sandwell and Joan Hiebert. Lisa is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Wilson.
