John Riggins from Centralia, University of Kansas star running back in football, will visit the Marion Kiwanis Club Monday noon to talk about the Jayhawk prospects for the coming season.
A brand new Gamble Store will be opening in Marion soon on the town's Main Street. Owned and operated by Mr. and Mrs. Dick Bredemeier, it will be a new modern store utilizing the most advanced merchandising concepts. It will be new from front to rear.
Another winner in the popular Marion County Record Vagabond Weekend contest this week is Mrs. Helen Bailey, who was a preliminary winner last week at R.K. Beauty Shoppe.
Roseanne Richardson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Richardson of Kinsley, is one of five youths who will spend the summer in Austria as a part of the 1970 4-H Teen Caravan program. The Richardson family formerly lived in Marion.
Mrs. Dan Peterson was guest of honor at a pink and blue shower Friday evening at the Gene Nelson home in Burdick. Hostesses were Mrs. Nelson, Mrs. Fred Shields and Mrs. Alvin Johnson.
An antique sewing machine and an antique radio were taken in a break-in at the residence of Fred Boettcher, one mile south and one-half mile west of Antelope. The theft was reported Friday afternoon. The antiques were in a building near the house and entrance was gained through a window. Sheriff J.E. O'Hair investigated the theft.
Mr. and Mrs. D.W. Wheeler are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.F. Hood, and other relatives in Chicago.
