Friends of the Elmer Schlotthauers gathered Monday morning after the severe wind of Sunday night tore part of a roof off the house and damaged the side severely. The work of a score of skilled men put things in order in haste.

Hilltop Manor, the 28-unit, half a million dollar residential project for older or disabled citizens is ready for occupancy, but who may rent is a question often asked. One member of each family must be 62 years of age or older; applicant must be able to walk about; net income of applicant at time of admission must not exceed $3,400 for one person or $4,250 for two; a family can not own in excess of $12,000 in assets (not including furniture).

Troy Schmidt celebrated his birthday Thursday afternoon, May 27, by treating his classmates to fudge bars and bubble gum.

Over 85 parents, relatives, and fellow students attended commencement exercises May 38 for the graduates of Evelyn Cook's Mother Goose Nursery School. Those graduating are Tracy Burkholder, Jeffrey Conyers, JaLynn Smith, Melanie Conyers, Cindy Woerz, Tammy Harris, Rochelle Mueller, Robbie Hett, James Schlehuber, Annette Kline, Jeffrey Burkholder, Roger Kohls, Rodney Jirak, Peggy Gonzales, Shelley Wakeman and Jon Siegfreid.

Mrs. Dollie Blomquist of Marion announces the engagement of her daughter, Vicky, to Gordon Mohn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Mohn of Hillsboro. No wedding date has been set.

Marilee McGinness and Jean Holt, Marion High School seniors, will spend an educational four weeks this summer living with German families overseas in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, hometown of Mrs. Dwight Wiebe, German instructor at Marion High School.

Richard Bowers, 16, has considerable second degree burns and some third degree burns on his body from a gasoline fire Thursday morning at the Danny Zeller salvage yard. In attempting to get an automobile engine to run, the carburetor caught fire, sprayed gasoline and spread.
