Seven units of Hilltop Manor, low-rent housing development for the elderly, are now occupied. Ed Navrat, executive director, announced that seven of the units were occupied June 15, and that other applications are now being processed.
Mrs. L.L. Hadsell of Marion broke a 107-year tradition of the United Presbyterian Church Tuesday when she was the first woman in church history to be elected moderator of the Kansas Synod.
Marilee McGinness, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed McGinness of rural Marion, was selected to be one of two Kansas delegates to Girls' Nation in elections held Friday and Saturday at Sunflower Girls' State. Girls' Nation is set for July 31 to August 7 in the nation's capital at Washington, D.C.
The marriage of Vickie Kay Vajnar and Donald A. Kraus was solemnized in a Nuptial Mass June 5 at St. Mark Catholic Church.

Floyd Padgett canceled his contract with the freight companies that deliver to Marion as of May 29 and intends to devote more time to his farming interest and more days to the undisciplined disorganization of retirement — just coming and going without tight schedules. Floyd has carried freight at Marion for 26 years through snow, sleet and summer heat.
Marion Summervill has been appointed assistant principal in charge of student activities at Lakewood High School, Jefferson County School District, Colorado. Marion is the son of Mrs. Wesley Summervill of Marion.
Diann Wiens, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wiens, will begin her six-month overseas assignment from the Kansas International Farm Youth Exchange this week. Japan will be Diann's host country. Diann is a senior at Kansas State Teachers College and was active in collegiate 4-H clubs at college, as well as being a former Marion County 4-H'er.
