Although it may be confusing at first, the orders have been handed down and the decision is final — now the body of water impounded by the Marion Dam will officially be known as "Marion Lake." This order came from the Office of the Chief of Engineers at Washington, C.D., and pertains to what was formerly known as Marion Reservoir.

Hilltop Manor, Marion's new 28-unit housing complex, is gradually filling up. Nine tenants have moved in and nine more will move in on July 1.

Marion Chamber of Commerce and Marion Kiwanis Club have selected their candidates for the Marion County Fair Queen competitions. Roxie Hague, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hague, will represent the Kiwanis Club. Beverly Hoch, daughter of Mrs. Wharton Hoch, will represent the Marion Chamber of Commerce.

Rita Williams, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Williams of Florence, and Maurice R. Linnens, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph W. Linnens of Cedar Point, were married June 13 in the First Christian Church, Florence.

Three Marion students graduated with honors this year from the University of Kansas. Norman L. Bowers graduated with highest distinction from the School of Engineering; and Norman Ray Mueller and Linda Christine Loney each graduated with distinction from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Kelsey have taken over the ownership of Marion Quality Check'd, distributorship for Tip Top diary products in Marion. Gerald has been operating the door-to-door distributorship in Marion for the past year and a half. He will continue to operate it as in the past, and his wife, Sharon, will be the bookkeeper.

Shirley Helmer, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Helmer, is the secretary in charge of the Marion office of the Selective Service System. According to Mrs. Edson Childs, state inspector, the Marion office will be closed all day on Mondays each week, and on Tuesday mornings.
