This is how Mrs. Elden Henke, Lost Springs, describes her recent trip to Washington, D.C., to attend the class reunion of the Whittier College class of 1934 in which she and President Richard Nixon were members. Railroad construction workers have been busy in Marion during recent days making progress on the junction which will connect the Santa Fe and Rock Island tracks in a "y" type intersection. This will allow Santa Fe trains to run on Rock Island tracks from Marion to Peabody, rather than proceed to Florence on the Santa Fe line. The latter line will be abandoned when construction is completed in Marion.
Sherri Kelly celebrated her eighth birthday with a party the afternoon of July 13. Those present were Julie Hett, Greta Helmer, Diedre Reusser, Jan Bryant, Ann Bryant, Carla Jost, Kay Ann Williams, Jackie Richmond, and Jamie Richmond.

Twenty-nine high school youth and seven adults left Wichita Tuesday on the "co-ed" Canadian Canoe Camp sponsored by the Kansas conference of the United Methodist Church. Dean Ensey, son of Dr. and Mrs. T.C. Ensey and Karen Kjellin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Kjellin are in the group.
