Enrollment in Marion Unified School District shows a net drop of 33 students as compared with first day enrollment figures of one year ago, according to Superintendent Jack M. Applegate. These figures are for both the Marion and Florence attendance centers combined.
The American Legion and the American Legion Auxiliary will hold a joint meeting Thursday to hear local delegates to Boys State and Girls State. Girls State delegates were Debi Case and Shelley Batt. Boys Staters were Doug Keazer, Brad Case, and Eric Meyer.
Several administrative changes have been made in the sheriff's office. Mrs. Kenneth Hanes of Peabody has been employed as day dispatcher in the office. Mrs. Delmer Palmer of Hillsboro was recently hired as a night dispatcher.
Diana Goertz left Saturday for Kingston, Rhode Island, where she will be teaching at the University of Rhode Island this fall.
Vicky Adrian, a Tabor College sophomore from Buhler, was crowned "Miss Marion County" the final night of the Marion County Fair. Tuss Herbel was first runner-up and Rita Kreutziger, was second runner-up. Tamara Case, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rosse B. Case of Marion, was named "Miss Congeniality."
Among those who pledged fraternities at Kansas State University were the following 1970 graduates of Marion High School. Roger Jackson pledged Beta Theta Pi; Lance Alexander pledged Delta Sigma Phi; and Bill Darrow, Craig Smith, and Vince Tharp pledged Tau Kappa Epsilon.
