An old landmark, the big grain elevator on the late Fred Williams farm south of Marion, was moved last week all in one piece to a new location far up in the northeast part of the county, near Burdick. The moving was done by two men from Hutchinson, who have been handling this kind of moving since 1905, they said, and is the 23rd elevator they have moved.

Marion County's new county school superintendent, C.C. Rice of Hillsboro, took over the duties of his office this Monday, July 6. He replaces J.H. Franzen who has occupied the office for almost 10 years.

Jay E. Hargett has sold his attractive home at the county lake this week to Dick Wainscott, Wichita. The property is a preferred location, as it was one of the first two selected lots sold at the lake when the plot was opened.

Bob Brooks was medalist and winner of the first flight of Sunday's golf tournament at Marion Country Club with a low 72, only two over par for the 18 holes. Following him in the first flight were Dave Montgomery with a 77, and Bob Hoover and Harold Keazer, tied with 78.

A wiener roast was enjoyed at the lake Saturday night by Mr. and Mrs. Roland Fenske of Lincolnville, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Perry of McPherson, Mr. and Mrs. John Olsen and family, Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Amick and family, Mrs. Walter Siebert, and Mrs. Paul Siebert.

Gregory Bowers is celebrating his second birthday today, July 6, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Bowers, have invited Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Bowers and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Hett and children for supper tonight to help him celebrate.
