We had a blanket of three or four inches of wet, heavy snow Monday morning. It came after a couple of days of light rain which had things well mudded up. We really can't appreciate this beautiful white Christmas weather — sunshine would be much more appreciated.
Braden C. Johnston has resigned as a member of the Marion County Selective Service board effective immediately. The county commissioners have selected Roger Morse to fill the vacant place and his name has been sent to Washington for confirmation.
The Marion High School seniors have arranged for a donkey basketball game here in Marion next Friday. The feature game will be played between high school boys and the older, but less active, alumni.
Mrs. Blanche Penland announces the engagement of her daughter, Madeline, to Bill Crosley of Downs. The wedding is planned for early June.
A three-act play, "Me and My Shadow," was presented Dec. 17 at the high school auditorium in Tampa. Those who took part in the play were Paul Oborny, Elaine Bezdek, Esther Frantz, Eileen Schwartzman, Leonard Zietlow, Edith Frantz, Joan Moffitt, John Duggan, and Freddie David.
Max Dunn will show pictures of Saipan and Okinawa at the Morning Star community meeting Dec. 20.
Pfc. Robert J. Navrat is now stationed somewhere in Germany. Bob, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Navrat, writes that he finds that part of Europe to be very interesting.
