The modern, new Scully Estates office building located on South Freeborn Street recently was finished by the N.F. English Construction Company of Hutchinson. The building is modern in every respect and utilizes every advantage of the Quonset-type construction.

Dick Jantz won first prize of $20 in the annual Chamber of Commerce sponsored Christmas home decorations contest. Edward Good won second prize of $12.50. Third prize, $7.50 went to James Meisner; fourth, $6, to Joe Childs; and fifth, $4, to Marvin Schmidt. Honorable mention went to L.L. Hadsell, R.B. Harris, George D. Powell, Paul Keazer, Max Blackwelder, Harvey Hett, T.C. Ensey, and Earl Kreuter.

The marriage of Miss Pauline Best and Mr. Robert S. Edmunds will take place at 2 p.m. Dec. 27 at the Methodist church. The Rev. Dean Gleason, pastor of the church, will read the double ring service before a large assembly of relative of relatives and friends.

Born this week at the Marion Hospital were Kathy Kay Winter, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ruben Winter, Steven Jay Matz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alton Matz, Elmdale; and Roger Wayne Jackson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Max Jackson.

Mrs. Jess Coons was installed Dec. 20 as worthy matron of Marion Chapter 278, Order of Eastern Star. After she was installed, and as she stood at the altar, her daughter, Judy, sang "May The God Lord Bless And Keep You."

Pfc. Eugene Steiner, Durham, is now home on a 30-day furlough and will report Dec. 31 at Camp Kilmer, N.J., for duty overseas in Germany. He will be promoted to the rank of corporal when he reports to New Jersey. He is a graduate from cook's school at Camp Cook, Calif., and will do this type of work when he is overseas.
