Very little hope is held out for Navy Captain Julian Greer and the nine other men aboard a large 4-motored Navy Privateer patrol bomber that has been missing since Jan. 28. Captain Greer is the son of Mrs. John B. Greer, Marion, and recently returned from Korea where he was commander of Air Wing 6.
Mrs. Ruth Ann Sutherland and Mrs. Pete Schambron were hostesses for a miscellaneous shower Friday evening complimenting Mrs. Carl Stovall who was married last week. The party was held in the home of Mrs. Sutherland.
Johnny Higgins, son of Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Higgins, was hospitalized in St. Luke Saturday from an injury received in a hunting accident. Johnny was hunting with his BB gun when he tripped and fell. When the gun struck the ground it discharged and the pellet chipped a front tooth and lodged in Johnny's tongue. He was able to leave the hospital Sunday.
Miss Faith Seifert, whose marriage to Robert Skibbe will take place Tuesday evening, was the honor guest at a miscellaneous shower Monday evening in the parlors of the Strassburg church. Hostesses were Mrs. Jake Stenzel, Mrs. Herman Schlotthauer, Mrs. Henry Reh, Mrs. Dave Krispense, Mrs. Henry Vogel, Mrs. Harvey Kruse, Mrs. Milton Stenzel, Mrs. Dave Weber, Mrs. Roy Vogel, Mrs. Paul Vogel, and Donna Stenzel.
Gerald Tajchman, Ronald Herbel, John Hayen, Ronald Hiebert, Max Hayen, and R.J. Bateman were among the FFA boys who attended a meeting in Hillsboro Monday evening hosted by the Hillsboro FFA.
Mrs. Bertino and the Antelope school children entertained with a farewell party at the schoolhouse Thursday afternoon in honor of Marilyn, Jerry, Gary, and Rose Marie Loveless, who are moving to Marion. The children put on a short Kansas Day program of songs, readings, and rhythm band numbers, then spent the rest of the time playing games.
