A number of good friends and neighbors got together Wednesday afternoon and in less than four hours combined a large field of milo at the farm of Mrs. Mattie Mersereau. Nine combines and three or four trucks, together with four wives who provided a lunch, took part in the friendly gesture.

Dick Hoch entertained a number of friends last Wednesday evening as a courtesy to Billie Herbert who is moving to Stafford. The group played games, danced and enjoyed television before refreshments were served. Those attending were Arlene Klein, Judy Coons, Carmen Siebert, Kay Navrat, Marilyn Cook, Nancy Keazer, Jeanette Russell, Howard Williams, Bruce Wingerd, Larry Schlehuber, Marion Summervill, Gerald Stage, David Montgomery, and Don Winter.

This Monday morning we had a hard freeze with temperatures down to 28 degrees. We still are hoping for rain.

Mrs. Lonnie Tidwell helped her daughter, Cheryl, entertain a number of her young friends Saturday afternoon in celebration of her sixth birthday. The guests were JoAnn Magee, Kay Amick, Linda Amick, Kathryn Risinger, Barbara Weber, Shirley Bredemeier, Dorothy Marie Haas, Melody Thompson, Judy Broadstreet, Eileen Ireland, Connie Warneke, and Cheryl's brother, Burton.

The mightiest of motion pictures, Cecil B. DeMille's "Greatest Show on Earth" starts Thursday at Kaw Theatre and will run for one gala week. Admission is 16 cents for children and 75 cents for adults during the week with 50 cents for the matinee on Saturday.

Carmen Siebert entertained with a slumber party honoring Billie Herbert after the football game Friday night. The girls slept in the "Club House" in the Siebert garage which had been fitted up this summer by this group. Carmen's mother Mrs. Howard Siebert served breakfast to the girls.
