The Roll-in-Rink is open again this week after being closed for a month for repair and redecoration. Owner Jerry Hett says they have repainted the interior and sanded and refinished the floors. The rink is open each Thursday and Sunday evening.

Former Governor Payne Ratner, Wichita, was the principal speaker Wednesday at the annual father-son banquet at the Marion Evangelical U.B. Church.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Shields, Lincolnville, announce the birth of a son, Caroll Jay, Feb. 27 at Salem Hospital, Hillsboro. The new arrival weighed 9 pounds 3 1/2 ounces. The grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Martin Shields and Mr. and Mrs. Alex Brunner. The Shields have two other sons.

A beautiful wedding of wide interest was held Sunday evening, Jan. 25, at St. John's Lutheran church, Tampa, when Miss Edna Rhode, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Rhode, became the bride of Paul Backhus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Backhus, Hope.

Little Ginger Lynn Helmer was born at St. Luke Hospital Jan. 30. She weighed 9 pounds 4 ounces. Parents are Mr. and Mrs. Will Helmer. Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Dave Helmer and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gutsch of Lincolnville.

Marion Navrat had a playoff in piano Saturday afternoon for his pupils, after which refreshments were served. Pupils were Thelma and Marilyn Loveless, Sonja Sanders, Marlene Reiman, Larry Hartke, Deanna Klenda, Sharon Jones, and Barbara Holub. Mrs. Henry Loveless and children and Mrs. Albert Klenda were guests.

Homegrown sliced tomato is on the menu at Ruth Keller's this week. She potted a tomato plant that was still alive last fall and put it in the bow window where she has a lot of foliage plants. It blossomed a month or so ago and this week a fruit measuring more than seven inches in circumference was ripe. Several smaller green ones are coming along soon.
