A coon dog field trial is scheduled for Sunday at the Ginavan place north and east of Marion. A large crowd of dogs and spectators is expected to be on hand. The trial starts at 10 a.m., rain or shine, on what are considered the "best grounds in Kansas." A river race also will be held if time permits.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hauser were in Wichita over the weekend to attend the Kansas Livestock Association meeting and banquet. Mr. Hauser was master of ceremonies at the banquet which was attended by about 600.
Mrs. E.O. Sandwell, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sandwell, and Dennis Youk drove to Dodge City Saturday where they attended the capping ceremony at St. Mary's of the Plains College in which Dorothy Sandwell receive recognition for six month's training at St. Mary's and the pre-nursing course at St. Anthony's Hospital there.
Mrs. Orlie Harrison and Don Burkholder, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Burkholder, were guests of honor at a family gathering Sunday at the Burkholder home in celebration of their birthdays, which occur this week.
A large group of friends and relatives gathered at the Strassburg church Sunday evening to celebrate the golden wedding anniversaries of Mr. and Mrs. Karl Stenzel and Mr. and Mrs. David Propp and the silver wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Jake Stenzel.
As one of their yearly projects, Twentieth Century Club presented a record player to the kindergarten class.
The Marion Parent-Teacher Association will meet in the high school auditorium Monday evening with the following men as hosts: Lynn Christensen, Cecil Post, James Yeagley, Albert Bernhardt, Max Blackwelder, Harry James, John Just, Ray Longhofer, Ed McClain, Lysle Russell, Arthur Schmersey, Homer Stiller, Ed Navrat, Herb Batt, and Ralph Dohner.
