The Marion County Hereford Association and a group of Marion businessmen have joined hands and are cooperating to the fullest extent to produce a big free day for all the farmers and stockmen in Marion County and vicinity. The event will be held Saturday, April 11.
"Fog in the Valley," the one-act play presentation of the dramatics class of Marion High School will be entered in the Kansas finals at Lawrence as a result of their district win at Wichita. Members of the cast include Shirley Tiemeier, Dwight Fruechting, Jay Fisher, Theodora Longhofer, and Michael Brodhead. Mrs. Loris Reed is the coach.
Mrs. Fred Wooldridge entertained Saturday afternoon in celebration of Julia's 10th birthday. Guests included Ann Batt, Kay Love, Sharon Bartel, Donna Haas, Donna Jost, Janet Stiller, Karen Jost, Beverly Winter, Rosalie Dohner, Rosemary Ollenberger, Sharon Blankley, Patricia Longhofer, Zana Marie Hall, Sheril Wooldridge, Joyce Remmers, and Eddie Clymans.
An interesting and unusual baptismal service was conducted Sunday by Rev. Hower at the Evangelical United Brethren Church. Three sisters, Mrs. Harold Giesbrecht, Mrs. George Helmer, and Mrs. Glen Conyers, had their children christened. The infant son of the Giesbrechts was christened Wayne Ray; the daughter of the Helmers received the name Brenda Fay; and the Conyers give the name of Terry Lee to their son.
Mrs. Warren Olsen entertained the Stitch and Chatter Club at her home Thursday afternoon. Those there were Mrs. Edward Good, Mrs. T.C. Ensey, Mrs. Abe Reh, Mrs. Roscoe Blankley, Mrs. Junior Hett, Mrs. Homer Stiller, Mrs. Howard Siebert, and Mrs. Albert Bernhardt.
The boys' and girls' junior classes at Strassburg Baptist Church enjoyed an Easter Egg hunt on the grounds of the Dobbs School. Members of these classes are Anita Schlehuber, Jon Schmipf, Gene Schimpf, Steven Krispense, John Kline, Charles Evans, Naomi Stenzel, Karen Thole, Delton Richmond, Richard Schlehuber, and Lloyd Wiens, Don Stenzel.
