The Distinguished Service Cross and Bronze Star were awarded to the Most Reverend Mark K. Carroll, Bishop of Wichita, in an impressive ceremony at St. John's church in Pilsen Saturday morning in honor of Father Emil J. Kapaun who has been missing in the Korean theatre since November 1950.
Mr. and Mrs. Marvin K. Lee, Wichita, are the parents of the first baby born at St. Luke. Terry Alan Lee arrived early in the morning of Oct. 20.
Marion High School junior class has selected "Room for One More" for their annual class play. The cast will include Pat Kruse, Don Kline, Karen Brodhead, Joan Klein, Ginger Price, Donna Speer, Marilyn Reh, John Childs, Ronnie Post, Charlene Youk, Eldon Cook, and Janel Holub.
Mrs. C.E. Good entertained Saturday afternoon for her daughter, Mary Louise, in celebration of her sixth birthday. Those invited included Barbara and Margaret Weber, Shirley Bredemeier, Donna Jean Helmer, Eileen Ireland, Judy Broadstreet, Cheryl Schimpf, JoAnn Magee, Doris Haas, Phyllis Stenzel, Cynthia Kreutziger, Sandra Kline, and Mary Louise's teacher, Miss Viola Frick.
Holy Redeemer church, Tampa, was the scene of the wedding ceremony uniting in marriage Mary Lou Novak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Novak, Tampa, to Edmund Kroupa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kroupa Sr., Marion. The Nuptial Mass was celebrated Oct. 11 by Rev. Frank Schmidt.
Milo Pierce and son Bud Pierce will go to Jetmore Thursday where they will be joined by Mr. Pierce's other sons, Albert and his son David of Duncan, Okla., and Harry Pierce, Wichita. They will hunt pheasants around Jetmore for a few days.
Diana Herbert and Myron Jantz, seniors, Nancy Broadstreet and Marilyn Reh, juniors, and John Williams, sophomore, have perfect all A grades on the high school honor roll.
