Ed Stenzel, young Marion man, was seriously and painfully burned Thursday when his gasoline soaked clothes caught fire from the motor of the custom combine he was filling in a wheat field near Caldwell.
James ("Jim") Blackim is retiring July 1 as light plant superintendent following 40 years at the Marion Municipal Power Plant.
Mrs. Wm. Ward entertained with a formal dinner party Saturday evening. The dinner was in honor of her daughter Alice who left Monday for St. Louis where she entered nurse's training. Places were set for Alice Ward, Mary Hannaford, Dorothy Sandwell, Mary Ann Skibbe, Kent Richmond, Jerry Tuell, Bob Kline, John Newcomer, and Bill McKibbin.
Births included a daughter, Gena Katherine, born to Mr. and Mrs. James Broz; a daughter, Janelle Sue, born to Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Klose; a daughter, Barbara Jo, born to Mr. and Mrs. Leon McCarty of Wichita; and a son, Stanley Rex, born to Mr. and Mrs. Russell Hett.
Mr. and Mrs. Harris Seed, Berkeley, Calif., were honored Sunday afternoon with a potluck picnic at the Marion Country Club. Friends and former classmates attending were Mr. and Mrs. Donald Kirchner and children, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Summerville and John Robert, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Grubb, Danny Bob and Cindy, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Perry, and Leonard Kirchner, all of Wichita, Lt. and Mrs. Edwin Wheeler of Junction City, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Richardson, Stevie, Carol, and Janet, Mrs. Gerald Gearhart, Mr. and Mrs. W.M. Pierce, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Meyer, all of Marion.
