The opening football game of the 1952 season will be played Friday on the Marion gridiron when the Warriors play host to Moundridge in the traditional non-league event. The probable starting lineup for the Warriors is as follows: Eldon Cook, RE; Harold Byram, RT; David Wheeler, RG.; Harold Shields, C; Don Kline, LG; Sam Jewett, LT; John Williams, LE; Dwight Fruechting, FB; Roger Richmond, RHB; Ronnie Hiebert, LHB; and Jerry Brose, QB.
Rev. and Mrs. R. Frank Mitchell have moved into the Presbyterian manse and he will deliver his first sermon as pastor of the church this Sunday morning.
Mrs. John Spachek entertained a number of friends Sept. 9 in celebration of her son, Bob's 11th birthday. The boys enjoyed a wiener roast, watermelon feed, a show at Herington. Those present were Ronnie Swanson, Jimmie Svoboda, Lee Kaiser, Larry Hartke, Paul Atkinson, Dennis Miller, and Wayne Swartz.
Miss Dorothy Janzen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Janzen, Marion, became the bride of Pfc. Norman Ray Ensz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Ensz, Hillsboro, Sept. 1 at the Evangelical parsonage, Hillsboro.
Mr. and Mrs. Homer Reinke left for Washington, D.C., today, Thursday, to be present for the exercises at Fort Belvoir, Va., where their son, Bob, will complete officers' candidate school for the U.S. Corps of Engineers.
Rupprecht Zapf of Coburg, Bavaria, and Klaus Flach of Kolbermoor, Bavaria, exchange students from Germany were overnight guests at the Jonah Seifert home Friday. A picnic supper was given for them at the Seifert home. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Dunn and Ruth Fern, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schlehuber and children, Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Weber and Kathy, and Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Seifert and Teresa Elaine.
