In the largest vote ever recorded in Marion County, voters gave Republican national and state officeholders overwhelming majorities in the election Tuesday. The tremendous 4 to 1 landslide for Eisenhower over his Democratic opponent Stevenson, undoubtedly helped carry many other Republicans into commanding leads.

Grade 4, 5, and 6 had a Halloween party Friday evening at the high school gym, sponsored by the Hill PTA. Those who won prizes for the best costumes were Sharon Blankley, Connie Eckstrom, Sue Haizlip, first; Rosalie Dohner, Dennis Navrat, Sharon Propp, second; and Delbert Matz, Karen Thole, and Bill Good, third.

David Wheeler took his son, David, Eldon Cook, Don Kline, and Dwight Fruechting to Manhattan Saturday for the KU-Manhattan game.

The John Williams family covered several affairs Friday evening. Mary Ann attended a Halloween party at the June Jost home, Maurice and Tim were at the same kind of a party at Dennis Schroeder's, and Mother and Dad were in Madison to watch John Reed play football with the Marion B team.

Thirteen boys and girls of high school age, members of a Sunday school class at Strassburg met at the Dobbs Schoolhouse Sunday noon for a potluck dinner. The group enjoyed a scavenger hunt and baseball game in the afternoon and also ate supper at the schoolhouse. Those present were Madora Richmond, Neva Stenzel, Carol Krispense, Maxine Hinz, Pat Kruse, Zona Kelsey, Virginia Willems, James Socolofsky, Howard Stenzel, Jon Thole, Larry Schlehuber, Dwight Kruse, and Devon Wiens.

Mr. and Mrs. John E. Wheeler, Dr. and Mrs. R.R. Melton, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hauser attended the banquet of the Flint Hills Hereford Association Wednesday evening at Cottonwood Falls and the men were there for the sale on Thursday.
