The formal opening of another Marion firm in a new building is planned for Nov. 22. Newsom's Greenhouse will hold an open house on that date at their new location on the corner of Coble and East Main. The Newsoms also have built a new house just south of the business building.
The October issue of the Southwestern Bell Telephone News, has an illustrated feature story entitled "Mr. Telephone." Mr. Telephone is George Rhodes, Marion, employee of the Bell system here since 1923.
BT/3 Robert T. Richmond has returned to his battleship USS New Jersey, off the coast of Norfolk, Va., after a 30-day leave with home folks, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Richmond, and other relatives.
Members of Bown-Corby PTA attended a meeting Monday evening and learned much from a talk by Francis Roberts about school legislation and the process which a bill must pass before it becomes a law. Hostesses for the meeting were Mrs. Max Jackson, Mrs. Bernard Broadstreet, Mrs. Charles Caskey, Mrs. Monette Avery, Mrs. Harold Berg, Miss Maxine Bond, Mrs. Fred Domke, Mrs. Virgil Fullmer, Mrs. Leland Greenemeyer, Mrs. Albert Hart, Mrs. Charles Love, Mrs. Harold Keazer, and Mrs. Francis May.
"Room For One More" will be the theme of the junior class play to be given Friday evening at the high school auditorium. The cast includes Pat Kruse, John Childs, Don Kline, Ronnie Post, Joan Klein, Karen Brodhead, Ginger Price, Donna Speer, Marilyn Reh, Charlene Youk, Janet Holub, Joe Sklenar, Donna Williams, and Roger Richmond.
