Alpha Omega chapter of the national honorary teachers sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma, was organized here Nov. 22 with Marion and Chase counties combining in the organization. To become a member, a candidate must have taught at least five years. Miss Lucy Hovey, Marion High School home economics instructor and Miss Julia Campbell, teacher of the Hill fifth grade, were the two charter members from here initiated into the group.
The West Side Motel, operated by Mr. and Mrs. J.E. Tuell has a nice new neon sign which adds much to the attractiveness of their place. There "vacancy" and "no vacancy" signs have also been done in neon.
The ministers of the town met Monday evening and elected officers for the year. Rev. Dean Gleason of the Methodist church was re-elected president; Rev. D.S. Hower of the Evangelical church, vice president; Rev. Paul Shellhouse of the Emmanuel Baptist, secretary; and Rev. J. Frank Mitchell of the Presbyterian church, treasurer.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Wiseman will be hosts Friday evening to the folks in the agriculture extension offices for an office party celebrating the wedding anniversaries of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Regier and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Conyers. Those present will include Mr. and Mrs. Gene Heath, Mr. and Mrs. John Sloup, Mr. and Mrs. Regier, and Mr. and Mrs. Conyers.
Mrs. Norma Hannaford entertained with a coke party Saturday afternoon for her daughter, Mary Hannaford, home from Colorado Women's College for the Thanksgiving vacation. A number of the girls home from college and older friends enjoyed Mrs. Hannaford's hospitality and had an opportunity for a brief visit with the girls.
Jess Coons left Monday morning for his work with a construction company working out of Cheyenne Falls, Colo., after being with his family here for Thanksgiving.
