Funeral services were held Feb. 9 at Edmond, Okla., for Judge J.T. Dickerson, member of a pioneer Marion family. All older Marionites will remember Judge Dickerson as one of the most interesting and loveable citizens the town has produced.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Franta and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Franta had a surprise birthday party Sunday evening for Violet Franta for her 16th birthday. The evening was spent playing games and dancing at the Legion hall in Lincolnville, after which they went to the Franta home for refreshments.
Carol Richardson was five years old Monday and her mother, Mrs. Bill Richardson, asked a number of her friends to come out to their farm home in the afternoon to help her celebrate. Those who enjoyed the afternoon with Carol included Patty Sue Plenert, Christine Conyers, Cherilyn Edmonds, Karen Siebert, Cherri Bell, Bard and Nancy Olsen and Janet Richardson.
A valentine party and puppet show was the entertainment which the pupils of Dickerson school put on last Friday afternoon when their mothers were guests. The children portrayed stories of George Washington and Lincoln with their puppets which had been made entirely by the children. Mrs. Gene Atterberry is their teacher. Mothers who enjoyed the afternoon were Mrs. Carl Bass, Mrs. Frank Richmond, Mrs. Elmer Leppke, Mrs. Henry Kline, Mrs. Arthur Hamm, Mrs. Leslie Williams, and Mrs. Earnest Thompson.
Mrs. Gene Heath and six high school girls, Jeanette Russell, Lenore Wheeler, Deloris Reed, Kay Navrat, Mary Lou Conyers and Roma Collett will take part in a pageant Friday evening at the Founders Day meeting of the PTA.
Mrs. Gordon Wolf and Mrs. Norma Hannaford were guests of their daughters, Sarabel Wolf and Mary Hannaford over the weekend at the Pi Phi house at Manhattan. They saw the K-State vs. Iowa basketball game where Mary Hannaford was in action as one of K-State's new cheerleaders.
