Mr. and Mrs. Roger Morse entertained Saturday with a rock and roll party to celebrate Dick's 13th birthday. Those enjoying the evening were Deanna Klenda, Georgie Helmer, Marsha McCartney, Karen Schroeder, Donna Newsom, Charlotte Langley of Winfield, Tom Good, Dennis Schroeder, James Robert Meisner, Dick Varenhorst, Gary King, and Dick.
The "A" team record of 13 wins and three losses places the Marion Warriors 1956-57 basketball team as champions of the Cottonwood Valley League with a league record of 12-2. Members of all three squads (freshmen, "A," and "B" teams) are Marion Kelsey, Garry Vogel, Delton Richmond, Gary Helmer, Keith Conyers, Dennis Navrat, Jay Pankratz, Warren Vogel, Junior Post, John Funk, Wade Robertson, Bill Carr, Neil Hoopes, Tom Shirley, John Minear, Jim Gilbert, Roland Vogel, Jim Christensen, and Warren Gardner.
Mrs. E.M. Ellis entertained Wednesday in honor of her daughter Caroline's ninth birthday. Guests were her teacher Mrs. Kenneth Rigler and classmates Suzanne Bailey, Pat Warneke, Jean Koslowsky, Linda Amick, and Beth Thole.
Barbara Spachek, Lincolnville High School senior, was crowned basketball queen at that school in ceremonies at a recent Lincolnville-Durham game. Barbara was attended by Patsy Haefner, Mary Ann Sill, Barbara Czarnowsky, and Connie Riffel.
Mrs. Henry Klose entertained a group of boys on Wednesday in honor of Garry's eighth birthday. Guests were Ronnie and Donnie Sloup, Dennis Highsmith, Steven Childs, John Sandwell, Jimmie Magee, Stevie Heinz, Mike Jantz, Curtis Eckstrom, Bobby Elling, Bruce Kelsey, and Jimmie Ottensmeier.
