A total of $140 in cash prizes was given away in Marion Wednesday, on Cash Day, when the Cash Day merchants sponsored their regular weekly event. Mrs. Stella Schisler was the winner of the first prize of $115. Other prize winners were Joe Richmond, $15; Melvin C. Meier, Durham, $5; and Mrs. Herbert Hett, $5. Mrs. Clyde Kieferle's name was called for the third prize, $10, but she was not present in any of the 50 stores to claim her award.

Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Ehrlich entertained with a wiener roast at the lake Thursday evening in honor of their son Robert's birthday. Those invited included Don Kline, Tom Druse, Ronnie Post, Joe Sklenar, John Childs, Jim Smith, John Tuell, Harold Shields, Jerry Griffen, Max Hayen, Homer Mohn, Marilyn Reh, Ginger Price, Darlene Melcher, Glenda Razor, Marlys Rupp, Judy Coons, Karen Brodhead, Joan Klein, Janice Riffel and Donna Williams.

It is hereby officially declared that each Wednesday and each Saturday from this day forth until May 12th shall be known as "Sunbonnet Days" and on these days the female citizenry of Marion Community shall in all public places be attired in sun bonnets and costumed accordingly in order to protect their fair and comely features. Rosalie Dohner celebrated her eleventh birthday Sunday afternoon with a party at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. G.R. Keazer. Rosalie's mother, Mrs. Ralph Dohner, invited the girls from the fifth grade for an afternoon of fun and games. Birthday cake, ice cream and pop were served to Judy Richards, Karen Jost, Patty Longhofer, Donna Haas, Julie Wooldridge, Patty Funk, Kay Love, Janet Stiller, Sharon Bartel, Beverly Winters and Rosalie.
