Marion's Centennial Queen will be selected at the city building Monday evening, May 3rd, when the candidates will be reviewed by a group of out of town judges who will make their selection on the basis of costume, personality, and general appearance.
Teams from the five vocational agriculture high schools in Marion County will be among others from over the state competing in the 31st annual state vocational agriculture judging and farm mechanics contests April 26-27 at Kansas State College. The Marion judging team members are Ronnie Post, Roger Richmond and Wayne Hett with Joe Dvorak as alternate. The farm mechanics team will be Roger Pankratz and Max Hayen with R.J. Bateman as alternate.
Mrs. Theodore Longhofer entertained with a dinner party Tuesday evening in honor of her daughter Theodora's birthday anniversary. Places were marked for the honoree, Wilma Geis, Donna Rose Pankratz, Thelma Jean Seibel, Herb Regier, Harry Koslowsky, Donnie Longhofer, and Mr. Longhofer.
A pottery shower complimenting Patsy Harris, whose wedding will occur in the early summer, was given by friends Saturday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Ella Socolofsky. Mrs. Kenneth Swanson, Mrs. Frank Hollar and Mrs. Rosse B. Case were assisting hostesses.
J.B. Miesse and Jerry Tuell arrived home Monday from a trip into Old Mexico which took them to Monterey and other points.
Mrs. Lucy Burkholder, Abilene librarian, formerly of Marion, was chairman of the North Central Kansas Library Association meeting which was held in Marion last Thursday. Mrs. Inez Ray, Marion librarian, was hostess librarian.
A fish fry in the Clyde Darrow home in the Sunflower community Friday evening was the source of much pleasure and also the cause of a very overstuffed feeling by the following who sat at the table: Mr. and Mrs. I.L. Klein, Peabody, Mr. and Mrs. Orlan Carroll, Mr. and Mrs. Orlie Harrison, and the Darrows.
