Four and 46 hundredths inches of rain fell at the government gauge here from last Thursday morning until 7 a.m. this morning, reports Rendel Newsom, weather observer. This brings the year's total up to 13.69 inches, more than three inches over the normal 10.62 inches for the full first five months. The continued rains soak fields and the rivers are near flood stage.
Earl Mueller has been appointed Tampa city marshal by the city council, it is announced this week. He replaces Ted Bernhardt who has served in that capacity for some time. Mueller works for the Cardie Oil Company in Tampa, and is in or near the city most of the time.
There will be special programs at Strassburg Baptist Church Sunday morning in dedication of new furniture and floor coverings which were recently installed. Rev. L.B. Hinz, Waco, Texas, and Rev. Lando Hiebert will be guest speakers.
Mrs. Rosse B. Case entertained a number of children Tuesday morning in honor of her son, Brad's, fourth birthday. Members of the sixth grade and their sponsors, Mrs. John Sloup and Jerry Dyck, went to Wichita today, Thursday, where they will visit both TV stations, the airport and the police station. They took a sack lunch which they will eat in Riverside Park and enjoy the zoo while there. The eighth grade pupils, accompanied by A.W. Haizlip, will go to Wichita Monday and visit Joyland, taking a picnic lunch with them.
