With clear days and drying winds, the wheat and oats harvest in Marion County is rapidly approaching. Continued wet weather, with scattered showers and some hail and wind, has brought forth some discouraging predictions. Others, however, claim that the harvest may be much better than expected.

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Seaton and family left Sunday for their new home in Manhattan. They sold their home last week to Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klose. Mr. Seaton who has been doing correspondence work from Kansas State College for the past year, expects to enter school in the fall and finish his college work for an engineering degree.

Gail Merrill, Harold Keazer, Bud Pierce and Ray Longhofer drove to Kansas City Sunday and saw the Athletics play the Yanks.

Edward S. Tatge, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.J. Tatge, Ramona, won high honors at the 77th annual commencement exercises at Wentworth Military Academy at Lexington, Mo., where he has attended since his graduation from grade school in Ramona. Edward won the Messmore medal, an award made to the cadet excelling in three phases of school work — scholastic, military and extracurricular activities.

Mr. and Mrs. Marium Webster announce the marriage of their daughter, Rose Jeanette, to Mr. Robert C. Matz on June 13 at Zion Lutheran Church, Hillsboro.

4-H'ers from Marion County participated last week in the 16th annual camp at Rock Springs Ranch near Junction City. Participants included Margaret Sellers, Judy Robinson, Mary Stucky, Bonnie Osgood, Dianne Negley, Janet Frick, Ronnie Breech, Carol Walker, Patricia Berns, Ann Windsor, Margene Savage, and Reah Ireland.

Virgil Weber of Cook Motor Company, Marion, has just completed a special course in advance automotive servicing and maintenance at the General Motors training center in Shawnee.
