Ten days is ordinarily all it takes to complete the wheat harvest in Marion County, but this year farmers have been at it for almost three weeks and the best overall estimate is that the harvest is 60 to 75 percent complete. A long, wet summer is the cause. Very heavy straw and much "down" wheat that keep flat fields from drying out continues to be a problem.
Rev. Charles Littman, a native of Canada, is the new minister at Strassburg Baptist Church northwest of Marion. He will preach his first sermon this Sunday morning. Our Savior Lutheran Church will have installation services at the church Sunday evening followed by a reception and program for their new pastor, Rev. Lawrence Anderson, who arrived this week.

Slusser Drilling Company has opened new offices in the American Legion building, next door to the Wm. Ward real estate agency. Mrs. Clinton Socolofsky is in charge of the office.
Marium Webster, well-known local mechanic for the past 12 years, announces this week that he has purchased the Pritz Garage on West Main. He has re-named the garage and will operate as Webster Auto Service.
Adele McCarty celebrated her second birthday Saturday afternoon when her mother, Mrs. Peggy McCarty invited relatives and friends to help her celebrate.
