Two groups of college students, with their instructors, were in the Marion vicinity Sunday hunting for Indian relics. One group was from Hays normal school and the other from Kansas State, Manhattan. They dug into several old Indian mounds on the Dave Seifert land just south of "Dead Man's Bridge" and found many items of interest.

W.H. Thompson, for 33 years active in the business life of Marion as owner and operator of the Thompson Funeral Home, died at St. Luke Hospital October 15 after an extended illness.

Work is going forward this week on making a new addition at the city park which will especially please the young people. Concrete is being poured on the tennis court in the south part of the park and a retaining wall around the edge will be built so the courts can be flooded in winter, providing an ideal spot for the skaters.

Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sefcik of San Angelo, Texas, announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Dolly Romayne, to Lt. William Ralph Novak, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Novak, Lost Springs. The wedding will be an event of November 29 in Trinity Lutheran Church, San Angelo.

Mrs. Bill Schimpf invited several girls to help her daughter, Mary Alice, celebrate her birthday Saturday afternoon. Seventh grade girls present were Linda Amick, Suzanne Bailey, Linda Baxter, Cheri Bell, Janice Childs, Frances Giesbrecht, Diana Klein Judy Pankratz, Loretta Smith, Beth Thole, Anita Van Buren, Carolyn Vinduska, Pam Vinduska, Pat Warneke, and Mary Westerhaus. Additional guests were Ricky Britain and Mona Klein.
