Lloyd Wiseman, Marion County 4-H Club agent, announces that two IFYE students, Willis Penner and Frederick Funk, will be available to have speaking engagements before clubs and organizations in the county. Penner, now is in North Africa, will be back around Nov 17. Funk, now in India, will arrive in the United States about Dec. 24 and will be available for speaking engagements after Dec. 27.
Playground equipment at the Wren school grounds north of Marion will be moved to Marion soon to be added to either the Bown-Corby or Hill school equipment. Disposal of the other property there has not been decided upon, although the schoolhouse itself will probably be moved into Marion. One of the best suggestions is that it be set up and used as band headquarters, with a full basement divided into practice rooms.
A number of friends were entertained at a party at the home of Jan Rathert Saturday evening. Games were played before all went out tricks and treating. After that all went to the movies. Those present were Lisa and Diana Vinduska, Janice Weber, Ethel Brunner, Dorothy Hedrick, Sue Summervill, Sue Ann Bratton, Ruth Muck, Bess Haizlip, Carol Conyers, Margie Winter, Dena Gleason, and Joyce Remmers.
Mr. and Mrs. Junior Herzet announce the birth of a son Oct. 29 at the Slifer Clinic, Florence. The baby weighed 8 pounds 4 ounces and they have named him James Alfred.
Word was received this week by Joe Gamache, commander of Marion VFW Post 6958 of the appointment of Vernon Regier as national aide-de-camp for Kansas.
Mrs. Ada Blackim and Mrs. Orville Hett entertained the Morning Star school children and some of the parents with a Halloween party Friday evening at the school house. Those present included Barry and Bobby Olsen, Billy and Virginia Goentzel, Ricky Bell, Stevie Richardson, Milford, Keith, and Ora Hett, Mickey Hett, Ed, Richard, Jerry, and Karen Sue Siebert, Mr. and Mrs. Junior Hett and Anita, Orville Hett, Jim Blackim, Bill Richardson, and Mrs. Wilmer Siebert.
