The 22nd annual American Legion Carnival will be held today, Thursday, in the American Legion Building in Marion in observance of Veterans' Day. Bacon, candy, coffee, and other prizes will be awarded and several free door prizes will be offered. All kinds of games are on the schedule of events, with something of interest for everybody.

Donald Winter, Marion High School junior, was quite seriously injured shortly before noon Sunday when the borrowed motor scooter he was riding went out of control just east of the Main Street bridge. His right leg was caught by a sign along the street, pulling him from the scooter and breaking the leg between knee and hip. He also suffered internal injuries but, as of Wednesday morning, was recovering quite well.

The Dave Greenemeyers have announced that they will reopen the Marion Bakery here next Monday, November 15th. They will offer a complete line of breads, rolls, cookies, cakes, and other bakery goods.

Garry Vogel, northwest of Marion, suffered an unusual accident Friday. He was using an electric saw when it jumped back and caught his right leg. It cut the leg just above the knee so badly that about 50 stitches were required to close the wound. Garry is on crutches.

Mrs. Willard Conyers and her son Dennis came in and picked up several of his friends Thursday afternoon and took them to their home southeast of Marion for a special celebration of Dennis' birthday. Guests were Dean Jost, Bobby Good, Blair Post, Bobby Hoch, George Jackson, Wallace Slusser, Richard Hume, and Wayne King.

Mrs. Jerry Hett and Mrs. Jack Adams were hostesses at a bridal shower at the Hett home honoring Miss Cora McCarty whose marriage to Mr. Robert Call will be an event of November 30.

Mrs. Maurie Frazier and her daughter Margie Frazier of Wichita arrived home the last of the week from a trip to California where they visited Monte Frazier who is stationed at Travis Air Force Base near Oakland.
