Coach Frickey's team of Warriors, selected by those who should know to win over Valley Center last Friday, were defeated 26-0 in a non-league affair. The flu bug may be credited with the victory. Nearly all of the Marion starters were out with the virus.

Mr. and Mrs. Rendel Newsom of the Newsom Greenhouse will celebrate their 25th anniversary in the green house business in Marion Nov. 24th by holding open house.

Jackie Hill celebrated his 11th birthday Wednesday at party held at the home of his mother, Mrs. Evelyn Furnish. The guest list included Jim Weidenbener, Ronnie King, Roy Van Buren, Stanley May, Eddie and Dannie Frickey, George Merilatt and John Bailey.

The City of Marion this week received the National Certificate of Achievement for vehicle safety programs, presented by the Inter-Industry Highway Safety Committee and Look magazine.

A party of interest to Marion friends was the layette shower given for Mrs. Larry Consolver of Wichita Tuesday evening by Mrs. Merle Bruner, Mrs. Larry Robertson, Nova Bruner and Carole Robertson at the home of Mrs. Merle Bruner, in Wichita.

National Book Week will be observed in Marion next week by a series of book reviews at the Marion City Library. Those interested in good literature are invited to attend any or all of the days.

Mrs. Maurie Frazier and Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Thompson and Melody had as guests Sunday and Monday, Staff Sgt. Larry Lee Kerns, wife and daughter, Sharon Kay, who were on their way from California to a camp at Dover, Massachusetts. Sgt. Kerns is the grandson of Mrs. Frazier and Sharon Kay is her first great-grandchild.

A party honoring the birthday of Bryce Ollenberger was held Wednesday evening after school at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Ollenberger. The school friends who were guests included Janice Jantz, Pamela Weigart, Vickie Boese, Jimmy Swann, Gene Hett, Max Rector and Eddie Cook.
